"We are often asked what we want to acquire, and we are imagining, a great part of our thinking moments, things and people and experiences that we'd like to have in our lives.
Here's a different question. What do you want to keep in your life? What is there that already pleases you? What aspects of the people you know…co-workers, acquaintances, friends and loved ones…do you enjoy immensely? What possessions of yours give you comfort, or please your senses, or hold lovely memories? What experiences have you enjoyed, what familiar routines or habits have become like old friends…that first delightful cup of coffee in the morning, the walk through your neighborhood that is the same yet different as the temperatures and seasons and foliage change?
Sometime today or tonight, take pen and paper (or computer) in hand, set a ten minute timer, and make a list of what you want to keep in your life. You will be happily surprised at how satisfied and rich you feel after ten minutes. And many people surprise themselves with creative ideas that come during this short, worthy process. Trust me. Ready, set, go!"
