Holistic Counseling, Mentor Coaching -The universe is like a rich tapestry, the design delicately interwoven by every organism that lives within it, making its unique contribution to the whole.  We, complex organisms that we are, with our systems of blood, bone, tissue, electrical impulses, chemical flows and life force energy, are like the universe; every thread within the complex design is contributing to the beautiful pattern that our mind, heart and eyes ultimately discern.

We are body, mind and spirit.  When one (or more) parts of our intricately functioning system become wounded, the entire design is affected as other parts-physical, mental, emotional, or spiritual beliefs-become stressed, break down or over compensate to keep the system going.

Holistic Counseling

A holistic approach addresses the source of a problem or symptoms.

For example: a client is having trouble focusing or quieting an anxious, racing mind.  In the course of exploring/creating solutions for the problem, our work together may also examine eating and sleeping habits, nutritional needs, family and work dynamics, sources of stress, physical unrest or lack of ease.

I assist  my clients in creating solutions for their lives.  As we explore proven modalities, techniques and practices, they  gain understanding and a “tool box” of methods that can be used from now on for enhancing their satisfaction and happiness.

Practical, doable, successful solutions are the reason so many people are referred to me by doctors, therapists, medical and alternative practitioners … and satisfied family and friends who have reclaimed the personal joy and stability they were seeking.

EFT Energy Psychology

“Your emotional health, your success in the world, and your level of joy can all be dramatically enhanced by shifting the energies that regulate them.  That is the promise of the…field of energy psychology.”  ~~David Feinstein, PhD

What is it?  EFT stands for Emotional Freedom Technique and is a simple and easily learnable method of tapping acupressure points on the body for relief of psychological and physical distress.

EFT tapping began in the 1970’s, when several doctors initiated stimulating acupressure points to help their clients with stress, fear and phobias.  Dr. Roger Callahan then patented it as Thought Field Therapy, and later Gary Craig simplified the process and made it available to the public as EFT.

Tapping draws on the Traditional Chinese Medicine practice of acupuncture and acupressure-stimulating points along the energy pathways (meridians) of the body to improve the flow of energy, stimulate the central nervous system, causing the brain and body to initiate and release beneficial chemicals.

It is a body centered therapy that individuals can easily learn to use daily for positive change and maintenance of personal wellbeing…and work with a professional when an issue is multilayered and or difficult to solve.

Peg’s training in EFT Energy Psychology was originally with David Feinstein, Donna Eden and Gary Craig, and enjoys ongoing training as this exciting and very effective therapy continues to evolve.

EFT energy psychology is an amazingly effective adjunct to other therapies, and is often used to relieve stress, PTSD, anxiety, depression, phobias, worry and cravings.

Reiki Energy Medicine

Trainings and individual treatments are available.  Treatments can be in person or absentee (distance) treatments.

Trainings are offered several times a year in Original Usui Form First, Second, and Third Degree Reiki, with lineage to Dr. Mikao Usui. I was trained as a Reiki Master in Reiki I and II in 1996, and as a third-degree Reiki Master/Teacher in 1997, under the guidance of Patricia J. Crane, Ph.D., and with direct lineage to original Reiki Grand Master Dr. Mikao Usui.

Reiki healing can be performed in person or at any distance. Reiki is a natural, hands-on healing method. The word Reiki (pronounced ray-key) is Japanese, meaning “universal life energy.”

When I use Reiki, I am channeling universal life force energy through my hands to the recipient. Reiki can not only promote healing in the physical body, but also balance and  harmonize the person receiving the treatment on mental, emotional and spiritual levels.  Reiki can relieve stress, fatigue, pain and can reduce swelling. It is a wonderful addition to traditional  medicine and integrative therapies. Minor illnesses such as colds or infection may resolve after only one or two treatments. Research has shown that regular Reiki treatments can reduce the time it takes for broken bones to heal.

In many hospitals in a bi-state area, Reiki is used by staff members I have trained in Reiki Energy Medicine.

Known as an ancient healing art for thousands of years and mentioned in the Buddhist sutras (sacred writings), Reiki was lost for centuries, then rediscovered by a Christian monk named Dr. Mikao Usui in the 1800s. He studied Sanskrit texts for clues to these ancient secret healings and later received the entire system of Reiki during a 21-day fast on Mt. Kuriyama in Japan.

Breathing

Breathing, the way we’re designed to breath!

Breath is vital to a healthy body, and how we breathe determines to a great extent the physical, mental and emotional ease we experience in our life.  It effects our chemistry, cell and organ function, digestion, mental clarity and how we move our body.

Consciously breathing as we are designed to breathe can bring relaxation, a clear mind, improved sleep and a boosted immune system. Pretty much every one of Peg’s clients discover breathing naturally and intentionally is a foundational tool/skill for life enhancement and positive change.

HeartMath Institute Coherence Breathing

Enhance your health as you feel love for yourself and others

The harmony, resonance and coherence in our body’s internal processes influence the feelings and emotions we experience.  Those we experience as “positive” reflect a coherent system; an erratic, discordant pattern of activity in the brain and nervous system denotes stress...as unsettling or troubling feelings, instability, frustration, anxiety, overwhelm, impatience, anxiety.

Physiological coherence or heart coherence refers to harmony and stability in the brain and synchronization between the heart and the brain...increasing emotional balance, stability, access to intuition, improved mental functions-ability to focus, memory, reaction times and coordination.

HeartMath scientists have researched the heart-brain connection since 1990, beginning with a U.S. Military Commission to study the effects of stress on the heart and brain. That research resulted in the institute’s heart coherence breathing technique that has been taught to Navy Seals and other military personnel assigned to missions that require highly attuned mental clarity and teamwork.

A wonderful aspect of HM’s technique focuses on the intentional building of a heartfelt emotional state.  This positive shift, key to its effectiveness, excites the system at its natural resonant frequency; coherent heart-brain rhythm emerges…and a life enhancing benefit of this is the connectedness and love we feel within our bodies, our felt sense, and towards others.

You will love what it does for you.

Mindfulness

Mindfulness, a Buddhist concept established about 2,600 years ago, is now a popular and effective medical intervention backed by evidence-based science.

Mindfulness techniques can help improve physical health by relieving stress, treating heart disease, lowering blood pressure, reducing chronic pain, improving sleep and alleviating gastrointestinal difficulties…it can also be used for decreasing cravings.

What is Mindfulness?

It is moment to moment awareness of one’s experience, without judgment.  There are multiple ways to cultivate and practice mindfulness and arrive at a state of relaxed but focused awareness.

In those moments of present awareness, with no thoughts of past or future, our body and mind come to balance, to homeostasis…to peace.

There are many ways to explore and practice mindfulness, and one or more of them can absolutely work for you.

Do you ever get irritated and it gets in the way of your performance?

Do you get stressed and lose sleep?

Do you get overwhelmed and find it difficult to focus?

When we are calm, relaxed, clear, focused…we can access information and our creativity much faster.

A practice of regular meditation can reduce stress, increase empathy and self esteem, reset hormones, promote healing, strengthen your immune system, lower blood pressure, and promote deeper focus and concentration, in addition to many other benefits.

Meditation is easy to learn, and is an effective, brilliant tool that is always available to you.

I encourage and teach my clients to use meditation for it’s amazing benefits, and because it’s much easier to meditate in group, I offer and guide a weekly group meditation.

Hypnotherapy

Hypnosis is a state of mind in which suggestions are acted upon more powerfully by the subconscious in a deep state of relaxation is perfectly natural and healing.

While in hypnosis, one suppresses the power of conscious criticism. Focus of attention is much narrower and the level of awareness on a focal point is much higher than if one were awake. During this heightened focus/awareness, suggestions appear to go directly into the subconscious mind which controls 90 to 95 percent of all our actions, and is a vast warehouse of all our knowledge, impulse and experience. Everything you have ever experienced is recorded here.

Hypnosis is a simple, natural way to use a whole mind approach for change in attitudes, beliefs and performance in work, school, sports, relationships, and enhancing personal awareness.

My role is to act as a guide and facilitator, making it possible for your own inner wisdom to do what is necessary for you to create desired changes.

Regression Therapy

Regression Therapy
unnamed.jpg

Going into past memory can release and free us from living patterns over again, and many times help us to see reality as it is now, without confusing it with feelings from the past. Current and past life regression are important therapeutic tools for bodymind wellness, especially when used appropriately with other counseling therapies. Also called past-life therapy or past-life regression therapy, this process is totally client-centered, focusing on the origins of a client’s problem. In the past few decades, regression therapy has emerged as a dynamic and vital therapeutic modality embracing many disciplines — both traditional and untraditional.

Photo credit and copyrighted: ACKC Photography

Regression therapy defies a narrow, rigid definition, but an important characteristic which distinguishes it from other therapeutic approaches is in its focus on the discovery of the original causes of a client’s problems and in the acceptance of the theory that present life issues may have their origin in past lives, real or symbolic, and in its willingness to explore this possibility with clients.

Often, simply accessing past life memory starts a profound healing experience that assists in understanding current life challenges.

Personal Narrative Writing

The stories we tell ourselves...

either open us up to opportunities and our glorious future, or close us down from recognizing and realizing our dearest desires.

The stories we tell ourselves...

interact with our emotions, nervous system and brain, creating our emotional, physical and mental wellbeing.

I teach my clients to use (and use myself) a 10 minute writing practice centered on the positive emotions of awe, compassion, appreciation, love, trust, joy, enthusiasm.

And they quickly discover a deeper, more satisfying connection to themselves, everyone and everything, recognize and realize what happiness is for them,

how to solve problems and make intentional choices.

Acquaint yourself with this easy to learn and use skill that (proven by many recent neuroscience research studies) will support your health and happiness.
